The Nevada Yacht Club (NYC) was formed in 1963 with its foremost purpose being the encouragement of sailing as a recreational activity and sport. The NYC promotes sailing, boating and seamanship through semi-annual sail training, and an active racing schedule.
Most Nevada Yacht Club events are based out of the Lake Mead Marina as this is where most members keep their boats. Skipper’s meetings are usually held on the patio before races. NYC races are open to all (members enjoy discounted entry fees). We encourage anyone interested to come to a general meeting to meet the membership or show up to a skipper’s meeting to get in on the racing action. Walk-ons are always welcome!
To me, sailing is a way of life. I have been sailing for over 35 years. I am a certified sailing instructor and a three time Holder20 OD National Champion. As Commodore, my goal is to bring sailing and seamanship to our desert community.

I am a Las Vegas native. I started sailing about 10 years ago after a lifetime of power boating on Lake Mead. Sailing has given me the opportunity to crew for teams across the U.S. Winning a National Championship in 2012 was an amazing experience. I look forward to more amazing adventures. See you on the water!

The Sailor's Way
At the NYC, The Sailor's Way points to the many duties it takes to run a successful boat & crew. Besides the prerequisite of a fun attitude with an eagerness to learn, all that is needed here is a desire to sail! Just get here and let us do the rest!
Promoting Good Seamanship and Safe Boating The members of NYC always seek to be good stewards of beautiful Lake Mead and the surrounding Lake Mead National Recreation Area, by promoting seamanship and teaching 'Safety First' at all events.
