NYC General Meeting Minutes                                                                                                        June 22, 2017

Call to order by Commodore Jim Rosaschi @ 7:14 PM

50/50 raffle – see Lydia for tickets $1.00 each or 6 for $5.00

Introduction of Guests: 

              Adam and Brandy – just moved here from Hawaii, have sailing experience


              Frank – new to sailing


              Sidney – from Portland – joined club tonight


Commodore, Jim Rosaschi:

              May 25, 2017 meeting minutes approved.


Richard Faber is managing the bulletin board at the marina. US Sail Certificate given by Jim to Richard to post


              Keep Alan Fogg in your prayers as he is going thru some health issues


              Powerboat fund approved. We will credit $25 per series to this fund for future expenses.


Vice Commodore, John D’Acunto:

Please utilize Meetup for RSVP’s. For our general meetings this will help with staffing at the restaurant. Race day RSVP’s are for skippers only.


Treasurer, Lydia Brown:

Copies of treasurers report available on request. Please contact Lydia. Start promoting Fall sail training as this is a major revenue stream for the club.

Secretary, Dena Williams:

              Nothing new to report – minutes approved from previous meeting


Cruising captain / Communications, Tim Ehrlich:

Summer Sailstice is an open event. We will join Fleet 51 for beach activities. Keel boats can anchor off shore. Confirmed keel boats: Blown Away, Possibilities, Relative Wind. Plan on spending time in the water.


July 8 beer can race on meetup (non-scored race, no committee boat)


Fleet Captain, Clay Ostrom (absent) report by Jim:

              The new boat cover has been ordered - $114


Nancy Cox Memorial – Women’s regatta – Need to continue this event. Clay has requestedfeedback for future events. He will create facebook/website post to record feedback.


Darling Memorial – 75 mile nonstop regatta. Make up race to be rescheduled. We will need a minimum of 5 boats participating. Cost is $75. No single handed boats allowed. 


Temple Bar Marina has agreed to accommodate the club for the next overnight race. Normally the restaurant closes at 6. Clay and Lydia to follow up closer to race date.


Race fees: Single Day Races- $30

                   Series Races         - $60

                   Cup Races             - $45


Lisa – Youth Sailing Development – Sailing education

              Need to hash out liability and target audience

              Need National Park Service and Marina cooperation

                             Lisa would like contact name of someone she can talk to

                                           NDOW - Nick

              Possible target audience: Scout troops

              Adam and Brandy offered assistance




New Business:


Glenn Frank – Victor Felice from Arizona would like to have a racing challenge. They race at Lake Pleasant in Arizona. Race fee $100.

They would need 8-10 boats involved to create and facilitate program

The NYC does not have a big mobile fleet. We have J-24, Holder 20 and J-70. Victor is also talking about buying one of Glens J-24’s


Outdoor Nevada – filming is complete for this year’s PBS programming. Clay is working on getting them to cover our Fall Sail Training
